13 Ways to Fly Easily & Comfortably
With flight delays long enough to make a nun swear, it’s important to know how to make getting to your destination as easy as possible. Here are 13 air travel tips to help you get there with a little more sanity:

- Fly early in the day. At airports scheduled to capacity, any delay in the morning means there will be at least that much of a delay for every flight thereafter.
- Depart a day in advance for crucial trips, such as a business meeting or a wedding.
- Check the delay statistic for your flight — how often that flight is more than 15 minutes late on a scale of 1 to 9 (the lower the number, the more often it’s late) — before you book your tickets. Airlines are required by law to give you the stat if you ask for it; many post it on their websites. If the number is 5 or below and time is of the essence, consider another flight.
For the other 10, check out Carol Kaufman’s article in Reader’s Digest.

I have not read the other 10 yet but have to agree with the first three. Actually I was at the aiport yesterday and had the most amazing experience. My fiancee checked in the night before for a virgin airways flight. We arrived at heathrow dropped of the bags and were at having a bagel within 5 mins. Her flight was at 4pm on a wednesday and I was amazed at how quiet it was.
I always leave a day in advance as I have the worst luck with flights.
Great post…I am going to read the other ten noe

Thanks for the advice. I also like leaving lots of time. Even at a busy airport you can usually find a quiet area for some good reading and personal reflecting time.
We are getting ready for a 25 hour flight in August (New York to Taipei), any suggestions if we get delayed on the run way and make it even longer?

With the way flight take off times have been so unpredictable these days, I completely agree with one and two. It’s miserable getting caught in your layover city b/c your first flight was late!
Thanks for the tips!

I love flying and amusingly enough I’m one of those weird people that never get angry at the airport, I just enjoy the trip.
I was once held back for five hours at Heathrow when I was traveling back to South Africa and ended up meeting so many people
It was fun, thanks for the tips!

@ Reggae Artists
Wow! That was a great experience! No doubt it was because you left early and weren’t in a hurry. I’m sure if you had to get somewhere NOW, it would have taken forEVER. LOL
@Professor
I really really recommend a fully loaded ipod. Much lighter and a book and 6 magazines, and with the right noise cancelling headphones, (I recommend an awesome AND affordable set in my free Travel Secrets Revealed Book when you subscribe to my newsletter), the time will pass quickly without the bother of all those annoying passengers.
Might want to consider a portable DVD player, too, if your ipod doesn’t do video.

No problem! Welcome to Traveltipsdigest!
@Jovana
I’m going to have to agree with you one one thing - you’re weird! LOL. Just kidding. Airports are a great place to “people watch.” I just prefer to do it from the lounge with a drink!
@Forest
OMG, I would totally flip if I ended up at the wrong location. I’m too type “A” for that sort of thing. I guess all’s well that ends well!
